Nineteen-year-old college student, Jodi Sanderholm, was the quintessential American girl. A beloved sister and friend, Jodi had a promising future ahead of her — until, that is, the day she turned into every parent’s worst nightmare. After their daughter failed to come home, the Sanderholms feared the worst and contacted the police, but nothing was able to point anyone in the direction of the missing teenager. Jodi’s dance team, however, provides a crucial name in the investigation: Justin Thurber, a local nobody who often spent time lurking around campus watching the girls in rehearsal. A team of human trackers venture out into the wilderness, conducting painstaking shoeprint analyses that finally lead them to what everyone feared they would find — Jodi’s mangled body hidden deep in the rugged terrain. The entire case now hinges on a single arm hair that may have the power to put Thurber away and bring justice to Jodi and her family.
Don’t EVER minimize someone’s struggles, fears, or feelings…unless you want to destroy that person that much more…because that’s what your indifference will do…
"The most important thing you can do is trust your instincts. If you believe you’re being stalked; you probably are."-
This is a BIG one, I cannot stress this enough. I was 17 when mine started. The first time I noticed my stalker my stomach turned because something inside was screaming “something isn’t right about him.” He gave me a really bad feeling, a bad vibe, but I didn’t know why at the time. All I knew was that something about the way he looked at me scared me. Remember, this is BEFORE it escalated into following me home etc.
I tried to ignore it, minimize it, deny it. All that did was destroy me from the inside out. I didn’t even really understand what stalking truly was. Here I am, 9 YEARS (and counting) into being sporadically stalked by this same pervert, trying to prevent others from ending up a victim like I did. What people don’t comprehend is that once you’re stalked, you’re, in essence, a victim for the rest of your life. The effects remain long after the stalking stops (if you’re one of the “lucky” ones and it stops at all).
Your sense of security is never fully restored, the hyperawareness and anxiety never really go away. REBLOG the information posted on this blog. You may just educate someone enough to prevent this from happening to them. All just by sparing some space on your blogs. I’m not doing this for fun…I’m doing it to help prevent innocent people like you from becoming a target. I’m doing this because nobody did it for me. I had to learn and deal on my own. I don’t want anyone to feel that helplessness…
It can happen to anyone at any age without reason or warning. BE ALERT AND AWARE AT ALL TIMES.
"Stalking is a repeated pattern of behavior that makes someone uncomfortable or fear for their safety."-(via preventstalking)
Stalking Prevention: Stalking Victimization
- 3.4 million people over the age of 18 are stalked each year in the United States.
- 3 in 4 stalking victims are stalked by someone they know.
- 30% of stalking victims are stalked by a current or former intimate partner.
- 10% of stalking victims are stalked by a stranger.
Stalking Prevention: The Definition of Stalking
Like domestic violence, stalking is a crime of power and control. Stalking is conservatively defined as “a course of conduct directed at a specific person that involves repeated (two or more occasions) visual or physical proximity, nonconsensual communication, or verbal, written, or implied…
